To celebrate Christmas, here is my latest 2ft scape, Sunrise. Its a simple classic iwagumi scape, copy of one of many Amano works. The rocks was specially choosen by my son. Not really low tech but low maintenance, just weekly 30%-40% water change, no trimming needed.

Filter: Eheim 2215
CO2: 2-3 bps inline diffuser
Fertilizer: DIY
Temperature: 28-30
Substrate: ADA Amazonia

Fauna:
- Green Neon
- Malayan shrimps

Flora:

I was give some special rocks from Borneo, nice rocks but the color kind of yellow-orange bright make it difficult to scape. So I try to make Iwagumi scape using it, with bright color plants.

Im using manten rocks for this scape. It is a nice rocks but the price also expensive, roughtly S$10 per kg. The good part for this scape is low maintenance. I just let the haigrass grow wild, no trimming what so ever, just enjoy it grow.

It is amazing how IAPLC committee actually miss it.

Update 12 July 2012: It was reported here that it was dues to some anomaly during upload. Below is the animated gif from the website.

However, my guess is the submitter was play around with the idea of nana all the way to the top. He made a rough edit to see how it will look. Unfortunately during submission, he submitted the wrong file....oops....

Im saying this because there should be error correction or parity check or CRC check during data transfer.

It has been a while for me wanted to try LED light but it always been turn off due to the price as well as the fact that not all LED light set in the market can grow plant. Most of them just bright enough for us to see but not for plant to grow. It may not designed for planted tank. The one that design for planted tank cost very-very expensive. So I decided to DIY my self.

My target is to replace my 2x55W PL light set with LED. I choose to use CREE 3W led because I read from forum and some people said that those small LED does not have enough PAR. This project total cost is about S$30 for each row, my plan to make 2 rows for better coverage.

By the way, I found this light calculator to calculate PAR for different type of light. http://www.defblog.se/LightCalculator/

Material:
1. Two 62x5cm aluminum plate, used as a heat sink
2. CREE XR-E Q5 LED x6
spec:
- 3.7V typical driving voltage
- Manufacturer Rated 228 Lumens at 1000mA input current:
350mA: 107~114lm
700mA: 171.2~182.4lm
1000mA: 214 ~ 228lm
3. Two 900mA 10W Constant Curent Source LED Driver
spec:
- 10 watt high power LED driver
- Input voltage: AC 85~265V
- Output voltage: DC 9~11V
- Output current: 900mA
4. Miscelaneous items: thermal paste, screw and bolt, cable and small container

Drill some holes on the Aluminum plate to mount the LED

This is my IAPLC 2014 submitted tank. I was shock when IAPLC committee decided to change the rule so late. Normally in any competition that I knew of, judging rule was finalize before the competition start, so that the participant can scape their tank according to the rule. Never the less, I considered my self lucky to be able to get rank #16.

Unfortunately I cannot post the FTS (Front Tank Shot) now, at least until 26 October 2014 after the IAPLC party. It is nothing new, something that ADA have been requested to all high ranker tank. Be patient and wait, in the meat time I post some snap shot of the tank.

Unknown plant from Borneo, in between Staurogyne and rock. Come together hitchhike on the Bucephalandra shipment. It has been with me for 2 years and its growing despite very slow.
